Our Pastor


E. Ray Bynum is a native of Edgecombe County and presently resides in Wilson, North Carolina. He is an honor graduate of George Washington Carver High School in Pinetops, North Carolina.

He attended St. Augustine College in Raleigh, North Carolina, and later earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion and Philosophy from Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, North Carolina. He earned his Master of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University in Richmond Virginia. He has done additional studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Shaw Divinity School.

Pastor Bynum has served as instructor of the Old Testament for Virginia Union Satellite Program and past President of the NAACP for Rocky Mount. Presently, he is Assistant Secretary of the Neuse River Baptist Association, member of the Mayor's Committee for the Martin Luther King's Day, and is serving a third term as President of the Rocky Mount Ministerial Conference.

In 1975, Rev Bynum was called to Pastor White Oak Missionary Baptist Church of Enfield North Carolina. During his twenty nine years at WOBC, many programs have been implemented for the spiritual enhancement of the congregational and the surrounding communities. With the support and prayers of the membership, Much has been accomplished but the best is yet to come. He has done extensive teaching and preaching throughout the United States and abroad in Japan, Korea, and Africa.

Pastor Bynum is happily married to Dorothy Sherrod-Bynum. He has four children.
